OT001: Euphorbia clavarioides v. truncata (Lion’s Spore) A
beautiful succulent from Lesotho in southern Africa. Seed collected by Panayoti
Kelaidis in 1995. Zone 5. Thick stems one half inch wide and 1-2 inches long
form dense cushions, 3” high and 12” wide. Small leaves and small yellow
flowers in summer. Best in rock garden with perfect drainage. Zone 5. One
year old plants, $10

OT002: Maihueniopsis darwinii This Opuntia
relative is a compact, clump former from
Patagonia. I would rate it at Zone 4. I’ve not seen flowers in 12 years of
culture. Spherical “pads” are heavily spined and fragile (come apart easily).
Cool plant. $4 per cutting
OT003: Maihueniopsis poepigii A Patagonian opuntiad. Small cholla-like stems. 6” high by 18” wide. Shaggy spines on finger-sized stems. Small yellow flowers in June. Zone 5. Prefers and tolerates more moisture than most opuntiads. 3 year old plants 4-6” across $10.
